As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a game of skill and luck. The aim is to shift your checkers safely around the game board to your inner board and at the same time your opposition moves their chips toward their home board in the opposing direction. With competing player checkers shifting in opposite directions there is going to be conflict and the need for specific tactics at specific instances. Here are the 2 final Backgammon plans to round out your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the aim of the blocking strategy is to slow down the opponent to move their pieces, the Priming Game tactic is to completely stop any activity of the opposing player by assembling a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s checkers will either get hit, or end up in a battered position if he/she ever tries to leave the wall. The ambush of the prime can be established anywhere between point two and point eleven in your half of the board. Once you have successfully constructed the prime to block the movement of the opponent, your competitor does not even get to roll the dice, that means you shift your pieces and toss the dice again. You will be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Strategy

The objectives of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game technique are very similar – to harm your opponent’s positions in hope to improve your chances of winning, but the Back Game tactic relies on seperate tactics to achieve that. The Back Game plan is commonly utilized when you’re far behind your opponent. To play Backgammon with this tactic, you need to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This strategy is more complex than others to employ in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your checkers and how the checkers are moved is partly the result of the dice roll.
