As we dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of talent and pure luck. The aim is to shift your checkers carefully around the game board to your inner board and at the same time your opponent shifts their checkers toward their inside board in the opposing direction. With competing player pieces shifting in opposite directions there is going to be conflict and the requirement for particular tactics at particular times. Here are the last two Backgammon plans to round out your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the goal of the blocking strategy is to slow down the opponent to move her chips, the Priming Game plan is to completely barricade any movement of the opponent by building a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s checkers will either get hit, or result a damaged position if she at all tries to leave the wall. The ambush of the prime can be built anyplace between point 2 and point 11 in your game board. As soon as you’ve successfully built the prime to prevent the movement of the competitor, the opponent does not even get to toss the dice, and you shift your checkers and roll the dice again. You’ll be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Plan

The goals of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game tactic are very similar – to hurt your opponent’s positions in hope to better your chances of winning, however the Back Game tactic relies on seperate techniques to do that. The Back Game strategy is generally employed when you are far behind your opponent. To participate in Backgammon with this technique, you have to control 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This tactic is more complex than others to use in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your pieces and how the checkers are relocated is partly the result of the dice roll.
