As we dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a game of talent and good luck. The goal is to move your pieces safely around the game board to your inside board while at the same time your opposition moves their checkers toward their home board in the opposite direction. With opposing player chips heading in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for specific strategies at specific instances. Here are the last two Backgammon plans to round out your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the aim of the blocking strategy is to slow down the opponent to move his chips, the Priming Game strategy is to absolutely stop any movement of the opposing player by constructing a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s chips will either get hit, or end up in a damaged position if he/she ever tries to leave the wall. The ambush of the prime can be built anywhere between point two and point eleven in your board. After you have successfully assembled the prime to prevent the movement of the opponent, your opponent does not even get to toss the dice, that means you shift your chips and toss the dice yet again. You will win the game for sure.

The Back Game Strategy

The objectives of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game strategy are similar – to hurt your opponent’s positions in hope to improve your chances of winning, however the Back Game tactic relies on seperate tactics to do that. The Back Game tactic is generally used when you are far behind your opponent. To participate in Backgammon with this plan, you have to control 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This strategy is more challenging than others to employ in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your chips and how the chips are relocated is partially the result of the dice toss.
