As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a game of ability and good luck. The goal is to shift your chips carefully around the game board to your inside board and at the same time your opposing player moves their pieces toward their home board in the opposite direction. With opposing player pieces heading in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the need for particular strategies at specific instances. Here are the last 2 Backgammon strategies to complete your game.

The Priming Game Tactic

If the aim of the blocking tactic is to slow down the opponent to shift his chips, the Priming Game tactic is to absolutely stop any movement of the opposing player by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s chips will either get hit, or result a battered position if she ever attempts to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anywhere between point two and point eleven in your game board. Once you’ve successfully built the prime to block the activity of your competitor, your opponent doesn’t even get to roll the dice, and you move your chips and roll the dice yet again. You will be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Tactic

The goals of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game tactic are similar – to hinder your opponent’s positions with hope to better your odds of winning, but the Back Game technique uses different techniques to achieve that. The Back Game technique is generally employed when you are far behind your opponent. To play Backgammon with this technique, you have to hold 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single checker) late in the game. This tactic is more difficult than others to employ in Backgammon because it requires careful movement of your checkers and how the chips are relocated is partly the outcome of the dice toss.
