As we dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and pure luck. The goal is to shift your chips carefully around the game board to your inside board while at the same time your opposing player moves their checkers toward their inside board in the opposite direction. With competing player chips shifting in opposing directions there is going to be conflict and the need for specific techniques at specific times. Here are the last 2 Backgammon plans to round out your game.

The Priming Game Tactic

If the purpose of the blocking plan is to slow down the opponent to shift his chips, the Priming Game strategy is to absolutely block any activity of the opposing player by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s chips will either get hit, or end up in a damaged position if she ever tries to escape the wall. The ambush of the prime can be setup anywhere between point two and point 11 in your game board. After you’ve successfully constructed the prime to block the activity of the opponent, the competitor does not even get to toss the dice, that means you shift your pieces and roll the dice again. You will win the game for sure.

The Back Game Plan

The goals of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game technique are similar – to harm your opponent’s positions hoping to improve your odds of winning, however the Back Game strategy uses different tactics to achieve that. The Back Game plan is frequently employed when you are far behind your competitor. To participate in Backgammon with this tactic, you need to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single piece) late in the game. This strategy is more complex than others to employ in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your chips and how the checkers are moved is partly the outcome of the dice roll.
