As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of talent and luck. The aim is to shift your checkers safely around the game board to your home board and at the same time your opposing player moves their pieces toward their home board in the opposing direction. With opposing player pieces heading in opposing directions there is going to be conflict and the requirement for specific techniques at specific times. Here are the last 2 Backgammon tactics to complete your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the goal of the blocking plan is to slow down the opponent to move her checkers, the Priming Game strategy is to absolutely stop any activity of the opponent by assembling a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s pieces will either get bumped, or result a battered position if he/she ever attempts to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be built anywhere between point two and point 11 in your half of the board. As soon as you’ve successfully constructed the prime to stop the movement of your opponent, your opponent does not even get to toss the dice, and you move your checkers and roll the dice again. You will be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The goals of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game tactic are similar – to harm your competitor’s positions hoping to better your odds of winning, however the Back Game strategy relies on different tactics to achieve that. The Back Game technique is often used when you’re far behind your competitor. To compete in Backgammon with this plan, you need to hold 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single checker) late in the game. This technique is more challenging than others to play in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your chips and how the chips are moved is partly the result of the dice toss.
