The goal of a Backgammon match is to shift your checkers around the game board and bear them from the game board faster than your opposing player who works just as hard to achieve the same buthowever they move in the opposing direction. Succeeding in a match of Backgammon requires both tactics and luck. Just how far you will be able to move your chips is up to the numbers from rolling a pair of dice, and how you move your pieces are decided on by your overall playing plans. Enthusiasts use different plans in the different stages of a match dependent on your positions and opponent’s.

The Running Game Strategy

The aim of the Running Game plan is to entice all your pieces into your inside board and get them off as fast as you could. This plan concentrates on the pace of moving your pieces with no time spent to hit or stop your competitor’s checkers. The ideal time to employ this tactic is when you believe you can move your own checkers a lot faster than the opponent does: when 1) you have a fewer pieces on the board; 2) all your pieces have moved beyond your competitor’s chips; or 3) your opposing player doesn’t use the hitting or blocking technique.

The Blocking Game Technique

The main goal of the blocking tactic, by its title, is to block the opponent’s pieces, temporarily, while not fretting about shifting your checkers quickly. After you have established the barrier for your opponent’s movement with a couple of checkers, you can shift your other checkers rapidly from the board. The player should also have a good plan when to withdraw and shift the checkers that you employed for the blockade. The game gets interesting when your opponent utilizes the same blocking technique.
