As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of ability and pure luck. The goal is to shift your checkers carefully around the game board to your inside board and at the same time your opponent shifts their chips toward their inner board in the opposite direction. With competing player pieces shifting in opposing directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for particular techniques at particular instances. Here are the two final Backgammon tactics to complete your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the goal of the blocking tactic is to hamper the opponents ability to move their pieces, the Priming Game plan is to absolutely block any movement of the opposing player by building a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s chips will either get bumped, or result a bad position if he at all attempts to escape the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anywhere between point 2 and point 11 in your half of the board. Once you’ve successfully constructed the prime to block the movement of your opponent, your opponent does not even get to roll the dice, that means you shift your chips and toss the dice yet again. You’ll be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Tactic

The goals of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game tactic are similar – to hurt your competitor’s positions in hope to boost your odds of winning, but the Back Game plan relies on seperate techniques to achieve that. The Back Game strategy is generally employed when you are far behind your competitor. To participate in Backgammon with this tactic, you need to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single piece) late in the game. This strategy is more difficult than others to use in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your pieces and how the checkers are moved is partially the outcome of the dice roll.
