As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and luck. The goal is to shift your pieces carefully around the board to your inside board and at the same time your opponent moves their chips toward their inner board in the opposite direction. With competing player chips shifting in opposing directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for specific tactics at particular instances. Here are the 2 final Backgammon techniques to complete your game.

The Priming Game Tactic

If the goal of the blocking strategy is to hamper the opponents ability to move their chips, the Priming Game strategy is to completely block any movement of the opponent by building a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s pieces will either get bumped, or result a damaged position if he/she at all tries to leave the wall. The ambush of the prime can be built anywhere between point two and point eleven in your half of the board. Once you’ve successfully built the prime to stop the activity of the opponent, the opponent does not even get a chance to roll the dice, and you shift your pieces and toss the dice yet again. You’ll win the game for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The objectives of the Back Game technique and the Blocking Game plan are very similar – to hinder your competitor’s positions with hope to improve your odds of winning, however the Back Game tactic uses different techniques to do that. The Back Game strategy is commonly employed when you’re far behind your opponent. To compete in Backgammon with this tactic, you need to hold 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This tactic is more complex than others to play in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your pieces and how the checkers are relocated is partially the result of the dice roll.
