As we dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of ability and pure luck. The aim is to move your checkers carefully around the game board to your inside board and at the same time your opponent shifts their chips toward their inner board in the opposing direction. With competing player pieces moving in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the need for specific strategies at particular times. Here are the 2 final Backgammon techniques to round out your game.
The Priming Game Strategy
If the goal of the blocking strategy is to slow down the opponent to shift his pieces, the Priming Game plan is to completely barricade any activity of the opponent by assembling a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s chips will either get hit, or result a bad position if he at all attempts to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anyplace between point two and point 11 in your half of the board. After you’ve successfully assembled the prime to block the movement of your opponent, the competitor does not even get to toss the dice, that means you move your pieces and roll the dice again. You will be a winner for sure.
The Back Game Plan
The goals of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game plan are very similar – to harm your opponent’s positions hoping to improve your odds of winning, but the Back Game plan utilizes alternate tactics to do that. The Back Game strategy is generally used when you’re far behind your opponent. To play Backgammon with this strategy, you have to hold 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This plan is more complex than others to employ in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your pieces and how the chips are relocated is partially the outcome of the dice roll.
