As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of talent and luck. The goal is to move your chips safely around the game board to your home board while at the same time your opposing player moves their checkers toward their inside board in the opposite direction. With competing player checkers shifting in opposing directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for particular tactics at specific times. Here are the last two Backgammon techniques to complete your game.
The Priming Game Plan
If the goal of the blocking tactic is to hamper the opponents ability to move her chips, the Priming Game strategy is to absolutely block any movement of the opponent by assembling a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s checkers will either get bumped, or end up in a bad position if she at all attempts to escape the wall. The trap of the prime can be established anywhere between point 2 and point 11 in your half of the board. As soon as you’ve successfully built the prime to block the activity of your opponent, your competitor does not even get to toss the dice, and you shift your checkers and roll the dice yet again. You will win the game for sure.
The Back Game Strategy
The goals of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game plan are very similar – to harm your opponent’s positions hoping to improve your odds of winning, however the Back Game strategy uses different techniques to achieve that. The Back Game tactic is generally employed when you’re far behind your opponent. To play Backgammon with this tactic, you have to hold 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This technique is more complex than others to employ in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your checkers and how the checkers are relocated is partially the outcome of the dice roll.
