As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and luck. The aim is to move your chips carefully around the game board to your home board while at the same time your opposing player moves their checkers toward their inside board in the opposing direction. With competing player pieces shifting in opposing directions there is going to be conflict and the need for specific techniques at specific instances. Here are the last two Backgammon tactics to complete your game.
The Priming Game Plan
If the goal of the blocking tactic is to slow down the opponent to move her chips, the Priming Game tactic is to completely barricade any activity of the opponent by assembling a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s pieces will either get bumped, or result a bad position if she at all attempts to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be built anyplace between point 2 and point 11 in your board. After you’ve successfully constructed the prime to stop the movement of the competitor, the competitor doesn’t even get to roll the dice, that means you shift your checkers and toss the dice yet again. You will be a winner for sure.
The Back Game Tactic
The goals of the Back Game strategy and the Blocking Game plan are similar – to hurt your opponent’s positions hoping to boost your chances of succeeding, but the Back Game technique uses alternate techniques to do that. The Back Game technique is often used when you are far behind your competitor. To participate in Backgammon with this tactic, you have to control 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This tactic is more complex than others to use in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your pieces and how the pieces are moved is partially the outcome of the dice roll.
