The objective of a Backgammon match is to move your checkers around the game board and pull those pieces off the game board faster than your challenger who works just as hard to achieve the same buthowever they move in the opposing direction. Succeeding in a game in Backgammon requires both strategy and good luck. How far you can shift your chips is up to the numbers from rolling the dice, and just how you move your pieces are decided on by your overall playing plans. Players use a number of techniques in the differing parts of a game based on your positions and opponent’s.

The Running Game Tactic

The aim of the Running Game technique is to entice all your checkers into your home board and get them off as fast as you could. This strategy concentrates on the speed of moving your pieces with no time spent to hit or barricade your competitor’s chips. The ideal scenario to use this plan is when you believe you can move your own chips a lot faster than the opposition does: when 1) you have a fewer chips on the game board; 2) all your chips have past your competitor’s checkers; or 3) the opposing player does not use the hitting or blocking tactic.

The Blocking Game Plan

The main aim of the blocking strategy, by the title, is to block the opponent’s checkers, temporarily, not worrying about shifting your pieces rapidly. As soon as you’ve established the barrier for your competitor’s movement with a couple of checkers, you can shift your other checkers quickly from the game board. The player will need to also have an apparent strategy when to back off and move the chips that you used for the blockade. The game becomes intriguing when the competitor utilizes the same blocking strategy.
