As we dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and pure luck. The aim is to shift your chips carefully around the board to your home board and at the same time your opposition moves their pieces toward their home board in the opposing direction. With opposing player checkers heading in opposing directions there is bound to be conflict and the need for specific tactics at particular instances. Here are the last 2 Backgammon tactics to round out your game.
The Priming Game Plan
If the goal of the blocking tactic is to slow down the opponent to shift her pieces, the Priming Game tactic is to absolutely stop any activity of the opposing player by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s pieces will either get hit, or result a damaged position if she ever attempts to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be built anywhere between point two and point 11 in your game board. As soon as you’ve successfully constructed the prime to stop the activity of your competitor, the competitor doesn’t even get a chance to toss the dice, that means you move your chips and roll the dice again. You’ll be a winner for sure.
The Back Game Tactic
The goals of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game strategy are similar – to hinder your competitor’s positions in hope to improve your odds of winning, however the Back Game technique uses different tactics to do that. The Back Game strategy is commonly used when you are far behind your opponent. To participate in Backgammon with this strategy, you have to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This strategy is more complex than others to use in Backgammon because it requires careful movement of your pieces and how the chips are moved is partially the result of the dice roll.
